Cool Egg Experiment

Tony found this cool video on a website that shows what happens when you leave an egg in vinegar.  It's so cool. The vinegar basically dissolves the shell of the egg leaving just the transluscent membrane holding the yolk.  It's a SEE-THROUGH Egg!  Very neato!

Our egg is still soaking in the vinegar, but it's working.  I thought some of you all might enjoy trying this with your kids too!

Oh, and here's a website that explains the process step by step, tells why it happens, and even gives you some ideas for further experiments.  Let me know if you all try it and how it works for ya!

Our Thanksgiving with Family

Well I thought that those of you who know me in real life would be interested in these Thanksgiving photos. We spent Thanksgiving at my mom's this year, which that in and of itself is a big deal. We haven't done that since my dad died 4 years ago and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it.

Then to make things even more interesting, it was the first time that all 3 of us siblings had been together in years… I mean I literally can't remember the last time. Had to have been before Tony and I were dating because he can't remember it either and that was 19 years ago now! A lot of people don't even realize that I have a brother.

We had a very nice time though. We spent a lot of time talking about horses.  We are the rookie horse people there. Mark's wife used to be a horse trainer and Jill and Doug have been working with horses longer than us too. I'm sure my mom didn't know what to think.  None of us were raised with horses or hunting, but those were the main topics of conversation.

You'll notice Mikey (my niece) has a boyfriend with her in the picture. They've been dating almost a year I guess. He seems pretty nice.  He moved to TN from San Diego and he has that California laid-back cool kind of attitude.  And get this… he's even older than Tony & me!  He told us all something pretty interesting.  Growing up in San Diego, they NEVER had lightning bugs. We were so shocked. His dad was with him and they both said that they didn't even think lightning bugs were real until they saw them in TN!  Isn't that a riot?!

And just for good measure, here's a picture with the grandkids in it too. Joe's 14, Jake's 10, Jon is 5 , and Angel is 7.

What’s Your Accent Quiz

Here's another fun quiz to take that I found on Amy's Journaling Back to Joy. Now these results actually surprised me a bit since most people comment on my Southern drawl, but I suppose my English and Public Speaking teachers would be proud.  Even though I've got a definite Southern drawl, I actually do know and am capable of enunciating words properly when needed!

Now y'all go take the quiz and let me know what it says about you!

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

have a Midland accent” is just another way of saying “you don't have an
accent.” You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern
Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for
all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big
southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV
and radio.

The South
The West
The Inland North
The Northeast
North Central

Be Thankful for Every Day!

I was so sad to hear about Lorrie Gnos' passing. But I love that her sister said that she left without any regrets or fears. I would hope that my family could say the same with such grace and strength if something happened to me.

Remember to pray for her family and savor the day with your own family.
