Blessings

I just discovered this song and think it’s absolutely beautiful. I hope it is a blessing to you as well. (Don’t forget to pause my playlist at the bottom of the page.)

Laura Story – “Blessings”

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things

‘Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near

What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we’d have faith to believe

‘Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know the pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home,
It’s not our home

‘Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy

And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise

Interestingly enough, I’m also reading back through One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp too. It’s on sale at Amazon for under $10 right now and I hope you’ll bless yourself with a copy. It will leave you counting your blessings. And that’s a VERY good thing.

He has a name!

After much discussion and deliberation (and watching a Disney movie), we finally decided on a new name for our horse!

It’s not Double Stuff and it’s not Samson . . . think about the horse in the newest Disney movie on DVD, think about what a mess our horses mane is and the name of that movie . . .

The Great Adventure: Day Four from Nancy Carter on Vimeo.

It’s Maximus!

Like the Disney horse, he’s strong, handsome, protective, and full of spunk. And his mane won’t always be so tangled. He’s getting a little more friendly and trusting each day.

Do you see what I see?

Fine Dining with Baab & Mickey

I’ve always thought that miniature horses are really cute, but I think Mickey Blue Eyes is extra special. Not only does he have pretty blue eyes, but he also has pictures hidden in his spots!

I'll give you a clue: a famous statue.

Can you see it?

Here’s another one!

This one reminds me of an animal or a game piece.

Can you guess what it is?

Whenever I try to see pictures in the clouds or patterns, it always reminds me of a picture that my dad had hanging in his office for years. It was black and white, kind of like an inkblot and said something like, “Can you see it?” If you looked at it just right, you could make out an image of Jesus in it. Everyone who came in would try to see the picture, but it was easier for some than others.

People often remind us to stop and smell the roses, but that picture from my childhood taught me about looking closely to see the things that others might overlook.

Have you heard the song Give Me Your Eyes by Brandon Heath? I love the lyrics. Here is just a portion:

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity

Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach?
Give me Your heart for the one’s forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

May your day be blessed and your eyes opened to the world around you.

(And don’t forget to let me know what you see in Mickey’s spots!)

The Great Adventure: Day Two

Guess what we saw when we looked out the door this afternoon?

It looks like these two are set to be good friends.

Jake said that feeding them went really well. He continues to work on building trust and just being able to touch him gently as he eats.

We’re very pleased that the new horse respects the electric fence and hasn’t made any attempts to get out.

It’s been another good day!
